Shown is a photograph of Dresden (Germany) destroyed by bombing by Allied Air Forces. It’s a photograph taken by photojournalist Richard PETER Sr. (1896 – 1977), a former resident of Dresden who worked as a photographer-correspondent for the Arbeiter-Illustrierte-Zeitung before the war. He arrived in the city in September and was one of the first to document the state of the city with his photographs. The collected photographs were published in the book "Dresden - eine Kamera klag dan" ["Dresden - the camera accuses"], which became known around the world. The photograph, taken from the tower of the partly surviving town hall, shows a view of the annihilated city.
