Business stationery (postcard, front of) used by the company R. LECHNER (WILH. MÜLLER) in Vienna (Wien, Austria), publisher of books, bookseller (K.u.K Hof- und Universitäts Buchhandlung), photographic agency (e. g. Richard Hauffe worked for them), camera manufacturer ([K.u.K Hof-Manufaktur für Photographie], e. g. Werner Reisekamera [1887]). The company was run by Rudolf Lechner (1822 – 1895) and Wilhelm Müller (1849 – 1928).
It was addressed to Dr. R. [RUDOLF] KRÜGENER of Frankfurt am Main (Germany), manufacturer of photographic equipment – cameras, lenses and chemicals. R. Krügener (1847 – 1913) was a chemical engineer and managed an AGFA branch in Frankfurt. His own company was founded in 1888 and named DR. RUDOLF KRÜGENER, PHOTOCHEMISCHES LABORATORIUM AND FABRIK PHOTOGRAPHISCHER APPARATE, FRANKFURT-BOCKENHEIM. The company produced about 100 models of cameras, among them a best-selling one named Krügenerische Taschenbuch Kamera (Dr. Krügener’s Pocketbook Camera), one of the smallest cameras at that time.
