Souvenir sheet with a set of 4 stamps issued to commemorate the 70th anniversary of bombing of Dresden (Germany) by Allied Air Forces. One of the stamps (first of the right side, in upper row) shows a graphic representation of a photograph taken by photojournalist Richard PETER Sr. (1896 – 1977), a former resident of Dresden who worked as a photographer-correspondent for the Arbeiter-Illustrierte-Zeitung before the war. He arrived in the city in September and was one of the first to document the state of the city with his photographs. The collected photographs were published in the book "Dresden - eine Kamera klag dan" ["Dresden - the camera accuses"], which became known around the world. One of the photos, taken from the tower of the partly surviving town hall, showing a view of the annihilated city, became the subject of the anniversary stamp.
