Postcard (back of) used for correspondence from Poissy (France) to German Society of Friends of Photography [Deutsche Gesellschaft von Freunden der Photographie].
After the first association on “German” lands, the Photographic Association in Berlin, was founded in 1863 with the aim of promoting photography, the “Association for the Promotion of Amateur Photography” [„Verein zur Förderung der Amateur-Photographie“] followed in 1869, and in 1887 the “German Society of Friends of Photography” and in 1889 the “Freie Photographische Vereinigung”, which later merged into the “Deutsche Photographische Gesellschaft”.
