It was founded in 1893 by Josef Singer, watchmaker and inventor. In the 1930s, the company was transferred to Albert Singer Sr. and in the 1950s to Albert Singer Junior. In 1996, the company split into Foto Singer and Optik Singer, which was taken over by Andreas and Anne Wesolly. The company celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2018.
