Stamp, in form of a souvenir sheet, issued to commemorate 50th anniversary of a visit of German Chancellor WILLI BRANDT to Poland in 1970. The photograph shows a moment when, after laying a wreath, he knelt in front of the monument of Ghetto Heroes in Warsaw, to paid tribute to the victims murdered by the Nazis there.
The photograph was taken by a photojournalist working for Deutsche Presse Agentur at the time, using the pseudonym Sven Simon. He was the son of Axel Springer, the German book and press publisher.
