Business stationery (cover) used by the studio PHOTOGRAPHIE “ALIX” in Bagnères-de-Bigorre (France). The studio was founded in 1907 by Alice Eyssalet. In 2005 the Alix photographic collection (Eyssalet-Ardouin) was donated by the Eyssalet family to the city of Bagnères-de-Bigorre. The collection contained around 700 000 photographs on paper, glass plate negatives, paper negatives, rolls of films taken by the Alix studio from 1907 to 1961. A VISUAL MEMORY OF THE CITY AND BIGORRE
The Alix photographic collection makes it possible to retrace the evolution of the Bigorre throughout the last century. The photographs cover the industrialization of the region (factories, dams, power stations, etc.) as much as tourism, hydrotherapy and skiing or even local events (flower festivals, sporting events, concerts).
It constitutes a true visual memory of the events of the 20th century.
