Business stationery (cover) used by the studio [Pierre Simon] CHÂTEAUNEUF in Avignon (France). P.S. Châteauneuf (1855 - ?) in 1879 substituted Leopold Mayen in the studio at no. 8, rue Dorée "Photographie des Arts", and worked there with his father Augustin Désiré Châteauneuf. Soon after 1883 he left for Nîmes and later opened branched in Nîmes, Alès and Sète. In the 1911 census he was still listed as a photographer in Nîmes. His father Auguste worked in the Avignon studio until his death in 1903.
In the second half of the 20th century the studio in Avignon was run by (probably) Andre Plantier (1921 – 1997), painter and photographer.
