The company was merged from two companies in 1908: Lapierre, founded in 1843 by Auguste Lapierre who made "laterna magicas" (an early form of slide projectors), and the company of the DeMaria brothers, manufacturers of cameras and photographic equipment. Their most famous product was folding camera TELKA (formerly DEHEL) produced from 1933 to 1950s.
