Special cancel used to commemorate the centenary of the “Daguerre” balloon flight. The balloon was launched on 17th November 1870 when Paris was besieged during Franco-Prussian war (1870 – 1871). It was shot down by enemy fire after covering distance of 42 km. The pilot and two passengers survived but were captured by Prussian army.
