Meter on cover honoring the state enterprise Optical Works “Hermann Duncker” of Rathenow (Germany) [VEB Rathenower Optische Werke “HERMANN DUNCKER”] that was named after communist party activist Hermann Duncker (1876 – 1960). The name “Duncker” had also one of co-founders of the Works, Johann Heinrich August DUNCKER who, with Samuel Christoph Wagener established the optical company in 1801.
