Souvenir sheet of 8 stamps FAMOUS WORLD WAR II PERSONALITIES, issued on 50th anniversary of end of WW II. The stamps show famous American personalities that fought during WW II. The in-between image shows at the foreground free graphic representation of a photograph taken on 14 August 1945 by Alfred Eisenstaedt (1898 – 1995) at New York’s Times Square. The photograph, called V-J KISS, was of American sailor who spontaneously kissed a nurse in the street, upon hearing the news of the Japanese surrender.
