The company was founded by Eugene Omar Goldbeck (1892 – 1986), commercial photographer, who was born to first generation of German-Americans. His career spanned the better part of the 20th century (ca. 1900 – 1980). The collection of his works, over 15 000 prints and approximately 15,000 negatives primarily taken by E. O. Goldbeck that document American (especially Texan) cities, landscapes, people, and military life, had been gifted to and are kept in the Harry Ransom Center, University of Texas at Austin (Texas, USA).
