Type: cover

Country: Switzerland

Date of use: 12 July 1940

Business stationery (cover) used by the company SCHÖNWETTER Atelier für Photographie in Glarus (Switzerland), photographic studio and store managed by three generations of the Schönwetter family.
Glarus photographer family. Johann Baptist Nikolaus Schönwetter (1875-1954), a native of Bavaria, took over Joachim Knobel's photo studio in Glarus in 1903. His son Hans Jakob Schönwetter (1906-1997) completed his apprenticeship with his father and took over his parents' business in 1935. Hans Peter Schönwetter (*1936) continued to run the camera shop until it was sold in 1975. The photographic works of the three Schönwetter generations are of historical and ethnographic value; they document everyday life and industry in Glarnerland. The extensive, well-preserved estate has been at the Museum of the State of Glarus in the Freuler Palace in Näfels since 1996.
