Business stationery (postcard, back of) used by the company A. C. CHAMPAGNE Photographic Warehouse in Paris, agent of the company Photoglob Co. in Zürich (Switzerland). Photoglob Zürich (P.Z.) (the later name of the company Photochrom Zürich) was a subsidiary of the Swiss company Orell Gessner Füssli and was created to commercialize the Photochrom printing process. This process had been invented in the 1880s by Hans Jakob Schmid (1856–1924), an employee of Orell Gessner Füssli. Beginning in the mid-1890s, the process was licensed by other companies, including the Detroit Photographic Company in the United States (a process they labeled "photostint") and the Photochrom Company of London.
