The letter was sent from Shostka Chemical Plant in Shostka (district Sumy, presently Ukraine). The plant was founded in 1931. SVEMA used to be the major photographic film manufacturer in the former USSR. It produced B/W and color photographic and cine films, photographic papers and magnetic tapes. Adam Zaleski completed a one-month internship at this facility in 1960.
