Cover of a letter with a stamp in form of a souvenir sheet, issued to commemorate the 65th anniversary of break out of the Warsaw Uprising. The design of the stamp was based upon photograph taken by SYLWESTER “KRIS” BRAUN (1909 – 1996) of a moment when a 2-ton missile of 600 mm German mortar “Thor” hit the building “Prudential”. Sylwester Braun was an amateur photographer who documented life under German occupation of WW II, and during 63 days of the Warsaw Uprising (1 August – 3 October 1944).
