Red meter on cover advertising the camera works WIRGIN Kamerawerk in Wiesbaden. The company was founded in 1920 by four Wirgin brothers, Jewish immigrants from Poland (first Heinrich and Josef, and some time later two other brothers – Max and Wolf joined the company). It worked until 1938 when they, to avoid persecution, left Germany for the USA. Their company was taken over by ADOX (Dr. Schleußner) and continued production of cameras until the factory was partly destroyed during Allied Forces bombing raids. After the war Henry returned to reclaim the factory and restarted production of cameras in 1948. The company was in operation till 1971. Wirgin produced many models of various types of cameras e.g. Edinex, Edina, Edixa, Edixa Reflex, Edixa Electronica.
