Business stationery (postcard, front of) used by the studio PIRIE MACDONALD Portrait Photographer in Albany (New York, USA). Ian Pirie MacDonald (1867 – 1942) was born in Chicago. In 1883 he moved to Hudson N.Y. to work as an apprentice in Forshew photographic studio. In 1899 he opened his own business in Albany. Known as "Photographer of Men" he made over 70 000 portraits that included also prominent and famous people – actors, writers, politicians. His works brought him iinternational recognition and numerous awards from photographic organizations in the States, Germany, Great Britain or the Netherlands (some are specified at the back of the postcard).
