Meter advertising the company Optische Werke STEINHEIL in Munich (München, Germany), manufacturer of optical devices, photographic lenses and cameras. The company was founded in 1855 by Carl August von Steinheil (1801 – 1870) to make telescopes for German observatories. Steinheil GmbH marketed in 1866 photographic lens Aplanat of new design by Dr. H. A. Steinheil (1832 – 1893). Identical construction called RR - Rapid Rectilinear was invented at the same time by John Henry Dallmeyer. In the year 1948 the company marketed advanced 35 mm camera with interchangeable lenses CASCA (with Culminar standard lens 2,8/50).
