Type: cover

Country: France

Date of use: November 1915

Business stationery (cover) used by the company D. SOULE in Bagnéres de Bigorre (France), manufacturer of various electrical apparatus and devices. The company was founded in 1862, initially as carpentry workshop, by François Soule. In the years 1890 – 1920 his son Dominique manufactured also cameras and accessories.
The damaged postage stamp on the cover is a “perfin” – i. e. stamp bearing small round holes punched to form pattern of the letters D S, standing for initials of the firm’s name.
