Business stationery (cover) used by the studio and shop L. [Louis] CLERGEAU Horology-Jewellery-Photography in Pont-Levoy (aka Pontlevoy), France. Monsieur L. Clergeau (1877 – 1964) was clock-maker and photographer. During the years 1902 – 1936 he, later accompanied by his daughter Marcelle (1903 – 1984), took over ten thousand photographs picturing daily life of people living in the village Pontlevoy and in other places. He is considered pioneer of French sociological photography and his photographs were published in form of postcards and also in a book “A village in France”.
