Meter on cover advertising the line of cameras FOCA [L’Appereil Photo de Haute Précision] in Paris (France). The precision 35 mm rangefinder cameras and lenses that competed with Leica and Contax cameras manufactured were by OPL (Optique Précision de Levallois [suburbs of Paris]). The company was founded in 1923, primarily to make optical instruments for military, marine and aviation purposes. Among the FOCA models were PF 1, PF 2, Universelle RC, Focasport (for amateurs) and Focaflex. The cameras were equipped with various versions of OPL own Oplar lenses (e. g. Oplarex, Oplex). Production of the cameras lasted some 20 years – since 1945. In 1964 OPL merged with SOM Berthiot to make SOPELEM (Société d’Optique Précision ÉLEctronique et Mécanique).
