Cover of letter, with underrated postage, sent from Austria to LOUIS CLERGEAU (1877 - 1964), clockmaker and photographer in Pontlevoy [aka Pont-Levoy]. During the years 1902 - 1936 he, later accompanied by his daughter Marcelle (1903 - 1984), took over ten thousand photographs picturing daily life of people living in the village Pontlevoy and in other places. Louis Clergeau is considered pioneer of French sociological photography. His photographs were published in form of postcards and also in a book "A village in France".
